What is Stress?
Every part of the body receives its nerve
supply from the spine. Abnormal tension
causes tightening from the spine, thus nerves
are affected.
When tension is relaxed, the muscles cease
to contract. Blood vessels too are relaxed,
reducing vascular constriction and allowing
circulation to flow freely, thereby conducting
the necessary oxygen and nutrients to all the
body tissues and organs.
Who is Affected by Stress?
Stress is difficult to avoid. It is an integral
part of modern life. The days when the stress
syndrome was associated only with the high-
powered business executives are long gone.
Modern technology can contribute to stressful
situations. Today almost everyone is subject
to varying degrees of stress.
The cardiovascular and digestive systems are
targets for the ill-effects of stress, high blood
pressure, ulcers, and indigestion being a few
of the obvious results.
Researchers have shown as high as 70
percent of disorders can be related to stress
and nervous tension. Stress can reduce our
ability to cope, undermine our confidence
and affect our sense of well being.
Today people of all ages or sex --are seeking
ways to reduce stress and to become more
relaxed. Reflexology is an extremely effective
therapy for stress, tension and tiredness.
Taking “my time” is a gift we give to
ourselves, and it is also a gift we give to
others in our life.
